  • Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC) is the best video player for these small files. It is included in the K-Lite Codec Pack what is downloadable for free from its official website. The standard version contains the newest MPC-HC and MadVR versions.
  • Do not use VLC on a good PC. The reason why people use VLC and defend it is because they don't need to mess with settings, but they do not realize the fact that their video quality will suffer.
  • MadVR grants you the best possible video playback quality what is available by video renderer, but there is a far better possibility for AMD graphics users. This is the AMD Radeon Settings what is a part of the video card driver. It is simply awesome! Unfortunately it doesn't work with the madVR, but it works with the EVR. Maybe there is another similar program on the Nvidia side, I don't know.

How to set up the best video player


  1. Download the standard version of the K-Lite Codec Pack from https://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm.
  2. Install
  3. Open the MPC somehow (MPC is equal to MPC-HC)
  4. Open the Options:
    • View menu → Options... or
    • Right Click → Options... or
    • press "O" on keyboard
  5. Select Output
  6. The last step depends on the video graphics card:
    • AMD (ATI Radeon):
      • Select Enhanced Video Renderer (EVR) at the DirectShow Video
      • AMD Radeon Settings:
        1. Install AMD Radeon Settings by AMD Catalyst
        2. Set on the best settings in my opinion:
          1. Go to the video panel
          2. Select Custom
          3. Custom Sharpness: Low
          4. Custom Colour Vibrance: High
          5. Custom Brightness: 0
          6. AMD Steady Video: Off
    • Nvidia (GeForce):
      • Select madVR at the DirectShow Video

Custom Sharpness: Low

How to use MPC like a boss


  • MPC configure
    • View menu → On Top → While Playing
    • View menu → Options... → Playback → Playback → Play → ~3 times
  • MPC control
    • Hotkeys
      • 1 - View Minimal
      • 2 - View Compact
      • 3 - View Normal
      • ALT + 1 - Zoom 50%
      • ALT + 2 - Zoom 100%
      • ALT + 3 - Zoom 200%
    • Left-click and drag to move your video player
  • MPH (Media Player Hotkeys)
    • This is a hotkey application designed to allow you to control various audio, video and media players from one set of global hotkeys.
    • Freeware software, downloadable from http://skwire.dcmembers.com/fp/?page=mph.
    • It works while you are in-game.
    • Your hotkeys are freely customizable.
    • Run it as administrator for the properly working.

Notes


  • MadVR works together with AMD Radeon Settings for .ts, .vob and .m2ts extensions.
  • .m2ts is the uncompressed Blu-ray video file.
  • .vob is the uncompressed DVD video file.
  • You can check the working of AMD Radeon Settings with the "Demo On" button on the top.
